Starting January 1, 2020, Californians can exercise their rights to stop their data from being used in the surveillance economy.  At the Annual Membership Meeting of the Sacramento Area Chapter of the ACLU, we will be introducing our chapter board and giving consumers information on how to use their rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).  In the surveillance economy, data about each of us is being collected and sold, combined with other data to make new products created for businesses we may not know and used in ways we will never know.  The CCPA is a first step to break this asymmetrical relationship by bringing transparency and control back to the consumer.  Come join us to learn how and why you should exercise your right to stop the selling of your data.

At our Annual Membership Meeting, we will also have board elections and light refreshments.
