Overview

Aimed at beginners and those who want to use Hacker Lab's metalshop, this class covers a wide range of equipment used for working with metal. It emphasizes hands-on time to build confidence with the equipment, while keep safety concerns paramount.

For each piece of equipment, you'll get an overview of what it is and why you might want to use it, a demonstration, then hands-on time.

We'll cover:

  • Horizontal Bandsaw use
  • Chop saw use
  • Grinding wheels and angle grinder
  • Drilling metal with the drill press
  • Flat bar bender
  • Tubeing roller

Important Information

This class is limited to 6 students. Sign up early because it fills fast!

Be sure to wear 100% cotton pants and a long sleeve 100% cotton shirt. Closed toe shoes or leather boots are ideal. Don’t wear anything that you don’t mind getting dirty. Bring safety glasses/hearing protection if you have them.

This class is required for those wanting to use Hacker Lab Sacramento's metal shop.
