Beginning MiG Welding - SACWLD001
Overview
Get an overview and practice on using Hacker Lab's wire-fed MiG Welder. Aimed at beginners and those who want to use Hacker Lab's welders, this class will cover techniques, welding safety and some basics on how MIG welding is applied in industry.
Please note: This is not a comprehensive welding certification course, rather its goals are to get beginners started in a safe, supervised, hands-on environment, and to familiarize attendees with Hacker Lab's policies regarding the MiG Welders.
We'll Cover:
- Welding safety overview.
- Explanation of components and adjustments of a Lincoln or Hobart 180 MIG welder.
- Demonstration and practice of a proper weld puddle.
- Demonstration and practice of welding two pieces of steel together.

Important Information
Wear 100% cotton pants and a long sleeve 100% cotton shirt. Closed toe shoes or leather boots are ideal. Don’t wear anything that you don’t mind getting dirty or burnt. Bring safety glasses, leather gloves, welding helmet and welding jacket if you have them.
This class is a prerequisite for the Oxy-Acetylene & TIG Welding classes.
