Schedule your 1-on-1 session to learn how to get Hacker Lab certified, gain jewelry making skills, or just make something cool!

Giana offers a wide range of Jewelry classes focused on both skills development and small projects, for both beginners and those wanting a bit more. When selecting your ticket, simply choose which class you'd like to take.

Please be aware: Some of these classes are intended to be taken in order, please see the suggestions at the beginning of each description to determine which class to take first.

Please be aware: We have a 1 week cut-off for scheduling these courses - you must schedule your session at least 1 week ahead of the session. We have a 48 hour cancellation policy as well.

New in May: Double Trouble Twosome-Tickets! We've added tickets for twosomes! Parent + child (16yo+), partners, couples, or BFFs that just live together. Sign up for a Twosome-Ticket if you and someone in your bubble want to take the class together. Please, no unaccompanied minors.

Skills 1:

Metalworking for Jewelry

If you’re interested in learning how to make jewelry but don’t have any experience, or are a member who wants to gain access to Hacker Lab's jewelry studio, this class is for you.

This is a basic introduction to metalsmithing for jewelry fabrication. You’ll learn how to bend metal, texturize metal, cut metal, and finish metal pieces. As a bonus, you'll leave the class with a piece of your own handcrafted jewelry.

After taking the class you'll be ready for Beginning Soldering for Jewelry and Stackable Rings and Cuffs.

This class is open to beginners with no experience and there are no prerequisites.

We'll Cover:

  • Overview of Hacker Lab's Jewelry Studio
  • Use of a Jeweler's Saw
  • Metal Piercing and Filing
  • Metal Polishing, Hammering, and Finishing

What to bring

  • All tools and materials will be provided for this class. However if you have and would like to bring a jeweler's saw or any other jewelry making tools please feel free.


Skills 2:

Beginning Soldering for Jewelry

This class is a basic introduction to soldering for jewelry fabrication. We recommend you take Metalworking for Jewelry first, but it is not a hard requirement.

You’ll learn how to melt different types of metal, solder different types of metal, and learn about heat, tools, and the properties of different metals. You’ll leave the class with a piece of your own handcrafted jewelry.

After taking the class you'll be ready for Intermediate Soldering for Jewelry and Stone Setting.

We'll Cover:

  • Metalworking & Forming Techniques
  • Practice Fusing Metals
  • Metal Properties

What to bring

  • All tools and materials will be provided for this class. However if you have and would like to bring a jeweler's saw or any other jewelry making tools please feel free.


Skills 3:

Intermediate Soldering for Jewelry

Part 2 in the jewelry soldering series, attendees must take Beginning Soldering for Jewelry prior to this class.

You'll develop your soldering skills further with more advanced techniques. We'll cover intermediate techniques on how to melt metal, how to solder even more types of metal, and the strategic use of heat, tools, and the properties of different metals to shape your creations.

...and as always, you’ll leave with a piece of your own handcrafted jewelry!

We'll Cover:

If you’re interested in learning how to make jewelry you can immediately gift or sell, or want a class focused more on creating a unique piece, this is the perfect class to take.

This class focuses on making a set of stackable brass cuffs - the perfect minimal statement accessory for your jewelry ensemble. These stylish pieces are super easy to create given the correct tools, materials, and techniques.

Being a project classes, this session will focus on working through the creation process from start to finish.

Skills used and gained along the way include:

  • Brass sawing and filing
  • Texturing and hammering
  • The jewelry creation process

Project 2:

Stone Setting

This class allows students to develop on their soldering skills with advanced techniques applied towards setting stones in silver bezel cups.

You’ll learn advanced techniques for strategically melting and soldering bezel cups, how to set stones, as well as using heat & tools for working with silver. Also, you’ll get to choose your own 6mm stone to set in a sterling silver bezel cup: labradorite, lapis lazuli, and onyx.

As if that wasn't enough, you'll leave the class with a piece of your own: a silver bezel ring!

Skills used and gained along the way include:

  • Melting and soldering bezel cups
  • Stone setting itself
  • Heat, tools, & properties of silver

Open Workbench:

Get Hands-On Help with your Jewelry Project

Jewelry Open Workbench allows students that have taken at least one class to come in and work on their own projects with the guidance of Giana Galati, Hacker Lab Jewelry Instructor.

Bring your project, your questions, and your tools for some one-on-one help!

Important Info & What to Bring:

  • You must have taken at least one Hacker Lab Jewelry class prior to attending this class.


Important information for all classes:

  • Please make sure to arrive 10-15 minutes early and sign our general release of liability agreement.
  • Masks must be worn correctly while inside the facility.
  • Do not come into the Lab if you have a cough, fever, or feel sick in the past 14 days.
  • The makerspace is a shop and thus full of wonderful ways to get stains and dirt on your clothes. Please dress appropriately, wear closed-toed shoes, long pants and sleeves, tie back loose or long hair, and don't wear anything you don't mind getting a bit dirty.

Cancellation Policy

Please be aware: Most of our one-on-one classes require students to register at least 48 hours ahead of class time, after which they will be marked 'Not available'. Our regular cancellation policy of 48 hours of advance notice also applies.
