About this Class
If you’ve taken the “Scroll Saw Basics” class, you are ready to take on something a little more complicated! Marc is going to bring a couple of different designs for students to work with (he’s promised to bring at least one pattern for a puzzle). Each student will have time to cut a more complicated pattern, under Marc’s expert supervision, and learn more about this exacting and technically complicated craft.
If you’re ready to take on the challenge, please sign up. Friday nights are great Maker nights. And what you make, you take home with you!
What to Bring / Wear?
CLOTHING: Please be sure to wear clothing appropriate for the woodshop. Jeans and t-shirt with closed toed shoes are the best. If you have longer hair, please tie it back or bundle it up into a cap.
TOOLS & MATERIALS: The teacher and Hacker Lab will provide all the necessary tools and materials! Hacker Lab Resident members, please bring $10 materials fee to reimburse the instructor. All others, the materials fee is built into the class fee.
If you have a special pattern you would like to cut, you are welcome to bring it with you. You may not have time during this class to cut the pattern, but the instructor may be able to give you some pointers for doing it later (on your own time). Or you may be able to set up some one-on-one time, depending on the instructor’s availability.
About the Instructor
Marc Berner is an expert on the use of the scroll saw and on Making in the woodshop, in general. He is looking forward to teaching you the techniques necessary on the Scroll saw! He will help you learn to create everything from puzzles and shadow boxes to art pieces. Marc is the guy who wrote the book: “Scroll Saw Basics“, available through Amazon.com.
