Overview

This class will cover proper use of the Chop saw, Band saw, Drill press, angle grinder, flat bar bender and tubing roller and if we have time, some other hand tools for metal working.

You will get a demonstration of proper use of each tool, and then a chance to try it for yourself.  Addison will take time to explain which tool can be used for which job, and which material works the best.

This class is limited to 6 students – Sign up early because it fills fast!  (Press ATTEND button at bottom of this screen)

What You Will Learn

Students will finish the class with a pretty full understanding of the proper use of HackerLab’s metal fabrication tools.  The tools we have will allow students to cut, bend, drill, and join steel and aluminum.

What to Bring/Wear for Class!

Be sure to wear 100% cotton pants (jeans) and a long sleeve 100% cotton shirt. Closed toe shoes, leather boots are ideal. Don’t wear anything that you don’t mind getting dirty. Bring safety glasses/hearing protection if you have them.

About the Instructor

Addison Quarles is a bicycle mechanic, imaginist, and generally excitable fellow with a knack for assemblage. Wood and metal are his main squeeze(s), but as he says, “I’ll learn anything once.”  Addison has a bicycle repair shop and great place to hang out at 2311 S St. in Sacramento called the Bicycle Repairium.
