Overview

In an increasingly digital world, the demand for skilled web developers is increasing just as fast as the demands placed on web developers are. This course aims to break down the core concepts of web development into manageable, understandable elements to jump-start students’ entry into the field while ensuring they’re properly equipped to continue their education onto the advanced topics presented in the back-end development boot camp.

This four-week course covers the essentials of front-end web development, including effective page design, structuring websites with HTML, styling layouts with CSS, and adding interactive effects with JavaScript.

Skills

  • Create page mockups following modern design trends.
  • Translate mockups into functional HTML layouts.
  • Understand the CSS box model and how it relates to page layouts.
  • Apply CSS properties to the page to improve the effectiveness and aesthetic appeal of their site.
  • Design mobile-responsive pages using media queries.
  • Understand how the Document Object Model and JavaScript work in tandem to create interactive sites.
  • Effectively use core JavaScript concepts such as variables, functions, conditional statements, and loops to add functionality to pages.

Instructor

John Kurnett has been writing code since he was 10, and has been building websites professionally for over four years now.  He's a great hands-on teacher, and has developed an exciting, engaging curriculum designed to teach you the fundamentals of web development.

Please be aware: Most of our one-on-one classes require students to register at least 48 hours ahead of class time, after which they will be marked 'Not available'. Our regular cancellation policy of 48 hours of advance notice also applies.
