SAC-100: Intro to Scroll Saw Basics

What You'll Learn

A scroll saw requires certain techniques for shaping wood as making curved cuts is not as simple as using a fence. This beginner class will teach the techniques necessary to make these cuts, and create a wide variety of interesting projects including wooden puzzles, and carving names & words with the saw... ... and you can take home whatever you make!

  • Follow a straight or curved line
  • Proper blade selection
  • Demonstrations of cutting wood, plastic, soft metal, and other natural matieriels
  • Hands-on practice

Important Information

Please be sure to wear clothing appropriate for the woodshop. Jeans and t-shirt with closed toed shoes are the best. If you have longer hair, please tie it back or bundle it up into a cap.

 

The teacher will provide all the necessary materials.

 

Hacker Lab Resident members: please bring $10 materials fee to reimburse the instructor. All others, the materials fee is built into the class fee.
