The Gold Country Brewers will bring Sacramento Beer Week to Hacker Lab on May 4 when they brew a large batch of beer on their mobile brewery (The Brewery On A Trailer, or BOAT).

Join in as members brew up around 40 gallons of beer - using over 100 pounds of grain to make an imperial stout suitable for the dark side (it is May the 4th) and headed to age in a rye whiskey barrel. The same grain will be used for the second batch in a process called "partigyle" brewing, making an English dark mild.

The BOAT is a repurposed car trailer with that can be used to make beer wherever it's parked. With three 60-gallon kettles and six propane burners on it, the homebuilt system is quite a spectacle - and makes more beer at once than some craft breweries.
